Warming up
Netball can be a strenous activity so it is vital that all players warm up and stretch before practice can start. Our warm ups consist of a 5 minute jog followed by stretching and occaisionally a few drills.
It is the responsibility of each player to ensure they are properly warmed up and warmed down before training or playing in a match. Back to top
What level of fitness is required?
All players are welcome and many of our existing players have various levels of fitness. You don't need to be Paula Radcliffe in order to be able to play, anyone can join in our training sessions. If you think you may suffer from any health issues that may be made worse by physical exercise please consult your GP before training. Netball Skills
Practicing netball skills and tactics are an important part of our training sessions. As well as undertaking drills, we take the opportunity to play a couple of matches with each player swapping to different positions throughout the hour. Back to top
Warming down
Following the onset of exercise the body generates lactic acid which can cause muscle soreness if you don't warm down and stretch after exercise. A five minute jog followed by gentle stretching will help prevent this. Back to topHow much does it cost?
There are no fees to join the Bingham Ladies Netball Team but we ask each person that attends the training session to pay £2 to cover the cost of the court hire. Back to topWhat should I wear?
For training you should wear comfortable or sports clothing and trainers. All our training is outdoors in all weathers. In wet and cold weather it helps to have waterproof clothing and a hat. Likewise in the summer cool clothing and sun protection is recommended.
For safety reasons we ask all players not to wear jewellery or watches during training and matches so it is advisable to leave these at home.
For matches all players will need to ensure that their nails are kept short for safety reasons. Back to top
Do you welcome new players?
Welcome to all our new and prospective new players. We would like more women to join our netball club and share the benefits of fun, fitness and meeting new friends. No experience or knowledge of netball is required for our training sessions. We can teach you the basics of the game and we will be very pleased to introduce you to our team.
Many women come along to enjoy the experience of meeting new people and having fun whilst exercising at the same time.
We also have a social nights out where the team can have even more fun that we do on the court.
We have players of all abilities with ages ranging from 20 to 60.
Players selected for matches will require a good knowledge of the game and a reasonable level of fitness. Back to top
